According to McKnee, what relationship did Dick’s ideas have to (a) Christianity (b) religion and philosophy in general?
Dick's SF has received a good deal of critical and scholarly attention, numerous books and collections of essays are devoted to his writing.
Much of the scholarship regarding Dick’s religious experience and the fictions based on it fails to recognize this controversy, as well as the complexity of Dick’s theological thoughts.
Given the theoretical nature of Dick’s theological speculations, it is problematic and inaccurate to attempt to find on category that can describe the entire breadth of Dick’s metaphysics.
But Dick’s out of it theological views played a big role in his writings. As he often referred to the Bible and quoted scripture and used it in his work. (Even if it may have been out of context at times). It is evident that his religious views, was in the forefront of his creativity.
