How do you think Buffy has influenced the contemporary vampire drama “True Blood” and the “Twilight” series of novels and films?

There are many factors that are due to Buffy influencing the contemporary vampire drama “True Blood” and the “Twilight” series. One factor we can conclude is that due to merging supernatural creatures with magestical ones such as vampires, witches, aliens and wolves. Common themes of love, hate and betrayal can be found in Buffy and these are not limited to. The narrative of the story sometimes drives the characters into sexual tension such as Buffy and Angle, Sookie and Bill form True blood and Bella and Edward from Twilight. Underlying symbolism is also highlighted such as the inconsistency of moral values and the changing views of good and evil.

Although Buffy’s character is similar to Sookie as the tough, intelligent and often courage’s girl, the character Bella from Twilight develops these as the series go on.

There is also the development of relationship that always starts with a male who seems a bit eerie and dark but then as the female characters find more about them, he seems romantic and sweets, beyond what the female imagined him to be. I think the main theme that Buffy influences “True Blood” and “Twilight” series is the almost fictional love, romantic relationship that happens often in these high sexual tensed vampire series.

I personally think that True blood has a stronger influence from Buffy than Twilight, as it is darker, sexual and mature, but you see this in the twilight series as you go along. No matter what the bad, good and the ugly, the rebirth of vampires had occurred.
